Paul James Nolan
Biography
From the shadows of the salt pyramid formations of the Salar de Arizaro in Argentina rises Renaissance man Paul James Nolan. A polymath with a formidable reputation as an audio engineer, artist mentor, and sound designer, Paul has navigated manifold paths through electronic music. He’s released on and engineered for some of the world’s most respected imprints from Bedrock to Kompakt.
Concurrently, his artist development work has propelled numerous careers forward, notably on labels such as Circus and Afterlife. In 2019, he launched the subscription-based platform MYT which has grown exponentially, helping artists like Four Candles, Gareth Cole, and Massano to forge successful careers in an ever-competitive industry.
Always in demand as a collaborator, Paul’s skills in engineering, production, mixing, and mastering have seen him work with acclaimed artists including Arthur Baker, The Martinez Brothers, JunkieXL, and film composer Jeff Rona.
His innovative approach to sound design led him to work on Sasha’s critically and commercially acclaimed Late Night Tales album ‘Scene Delete’ in 2016 in LA. More recently, he has collaborated with melodic master Patrice Baumel, proving his finger is ever on the pulse of dance music’s unremitting beat.
A bold audio alchemist, the DNA of Trentmoller, Jon Hopkins, and John Digweed can be traced through the lineage of his textured productions and the arc of his evocative DJ sets.

Taking cues from the avant-garde of film, his inspiration comes not just from the cutting edge of electronic music but from the alien landscapes and vast psychedelic canvas of avant-garde filmmakers like Villeneuve and composers Clint Mansell, Cliff Martinez, Atticus Ross, and Hans Zimmer.
Paul’s passion for immersive audio has also led him to work in a consultancy capacity with D&B Audiotechnik as he spearheads the rolling out of 360° surround sound DJing over the coming years.
With a reputation as a bold and astute selector, Paul has shared stages with artists as diverse as Matthew Dear, Hernan Cattaneo, Sebastian Leger, Jeremy Olander, and DJ Sneak, touring Asia and Australia in the process.
Despite his success, perhaps it should be no surprise that a man who places transformation as a key tenet in his philosophy should have recently uprooted from his home city Liverpool to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Here a road trip across the otherworldly salt deserts of the North would prove transformational, a new artistic identity emerging and a powerful reconnection to his past.
His artist name now pays homage to his father and marks a pivotal shift as he moves to a new phase in his career with a determination to tread his own fearless path.
Now making waves in Argentina’s thriving progressive house scene, Paul’s future promises an abundance of bold sonic adventures.
With upcoming releases on Bedrock, plans to realise the vast potential of MYTs fledging record label, and talks to score his first movie in LA, he’s set to become an irrepressible force in electronic music.
Supported by legends like Hernan Cattaneo and John Digweed, Paul’s music invites us to reconnect in a world dominated by algorithms and AI, reminding us of the need for community, belonging, and healing. Above all, his music remains deeply human.
